This is a 16x20 oil painting of the 18th century monk, Savonarola. It is a 3/4 view. I also painted it in profile as well as full face. Scroll down to see.
This was one of my first portraits. It was painted using a sculpture of the 18th century monk, Savonarola. It was one of three oil portraits that I painted. I had previously sculpted the monk.

This is a sweet 6x8 inch oil, painted on stretched canvas at a local Austin farm.
This tiny 5x7 painting was created at Herschel King State Park, Flagler Beach, Florida. It is acrylic and you may own it for only $65. The colors of the original are even better than in the photo.
I messed up the previous post and decided to try again. This is a print which I created and pulled from a cardboard collage. The texture is interesting and it comes across well. It is on 16x20 paper and is available for sale for only $65.
This painting was done in Ormond Beach, FL at the loop, one of my favorite places to paint. The loop is a marshy landscape with lots of wild life and beautiful plants and trees.
Savonarola, the 18th century martyr. 16x20 oil painting. I had first sculpted the head in clay and then painted the portrait using the sculpture as a model.
16x20 oil painting, "Sara."

A painting and portfolios of small works which I shared at our latest art critique and share meetup group. I formed this group in order to get together artists using a variety of media for the purpose of fellowship, encouragement, and constructive criticism.
This painting was a work of love and patience. I started it from the model, but moved before it was completed. I had to work from a photo and memory, a challenge worth taking. I'm happy with the completed work.

pastel plein air landscape 5x7

Another view of Sunset Lake in Asbury Park< NJ. This one is 5x7.
This painting is of a familiar scene for those of us who went to school in Asbury Park, NJ. It is similar to an larger painting done on location at Sunset Lake, where we used to ice skate and sled down the hill.

The classmate who commissioned this 8x10 remembers falling through the ice. I remember skating, sledding and drinking hot chocolate. That brings back such warm memories.

I matted the painting in an off-white acid-free mat and black frame. I like it.

just fun

I love painting skies and water and I'm quite pleased with this little plein air painting. It's only 5x7 and fine as is, but could be matted and framed in 8x10 or 11x14 making it suitable for hanging. Or, use it as a note or greeting card and leave the receiver the task of framing!

Mixed Media

This started out as a not so great oil. I embellished with pastel, a bit unorthodoxed, but, in my opinion, art is a feeling and should not have to conform to rules.

You may be relieved to know that it's no where near finished, but kind of interesting in a strange way.

Another oldie, "Haystacks," painted in Hart County, GA on our lovely farm. It is an 18x24 pastel painting on Canson mitients paper. Memories.

An old pastel that I painted during my old car days! The photo is an old one also and not clear, but I think you can see the general idea. The actual painting is much brighter and cheery looking. I'll have to take a new one with my new camera. Thought some of my car buff friends might like to see it.
