I am teaching a class of 18 seniors through Lifelong Learning Institute.  There is a lot of learning, effort and fun!  Here is my biography:

Peggy Applied studied art with renowned artists, Geza de Vegh, Fritz Cleary and Grace Graupe-Pillard.  She has been painting since 1965 and uses oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and pen and ink.  Her subject matter includes landscape, seascape, still life, and portraits.  She also sculpts, using clay.  Peggy enjoys Plein Air painting, which is done on location.  She is fascinated with the bright colors and strong contrast between light and dark in nature and expresses this in her work.

Peggy has exhibited in one-person and group shows in NJ, SC, GA, FL, and TX and has been represented by galleries, including the Anderson Art Museum and Tallulah Falls Gallery, as well as the Hartwell Fine Arts Center, which she owned and operated for about 15 years.  She has paintings in private and public collections and has won many prizes in juried shows.

Peggy earned an Associate in Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science degree from Monmouth University and a Masters degree from the University of Georgia.  She taught children and adults of all ages in her own gallery as well as museums in NJ, SC,  GA, and Florida.  She also taught in the pubic school systems in those states and also worked as a preschool administrator.

Her private accomplishments include four lovely children and four wonderful grandchildren.unknown.jpg

www.yessy.com/peggy_appleby_artistI was asked to do art work for pentecost at church.  I felt appreciated when this painting was placed on a cross in the center of the altar.  But I was surprised when I got an offer to buy.  The display will be up through June and then will get a new very special home.

WOW!

worked on five oil paintings today and did 4 watercolors earlier in the week.  I will be demonstrating for an art group in February and am getting supplies ready.

Yesterday, I went to Ft. Worth with Waterloo Watercolor Group.  We went to the Kimbell Museum to see two special exhibits.  One was Caillebotte, who is amazing.  It was a fun-filled exciting day.

I have been away so much for the past year that I have not been keeping up with anything.  I am going to stay home and get more done for a while.  A little more information about my art work follows:

I have been painting and sculpting for more than 50 years and use clay for sculpting and oil, watercolor, acrylic, and pastel for painting.  I have exhibited and taught art in museums and galleries in SC, GA, FL, NJ and now Texas.  I owned my own art gallery in Hartwell, Georgia for many years. I also taught in public schools off and on and retired in 2005.  I continue to paint and sculpt and participate in many local shows.

In addition, I had an instructional book published in 1984 and am planning another soon.

Almost all of my work is for sale.  My direct to you sales eliminate the commissions; so I can sell for 50-75% off gallery price.  If you see something you like and want to know the price, please email and ask.  I will never pressure or push.  In any case, look and "like"; and follow.  Thanks so much for visiting!
